The Moniteau County Jail was built in 2012 and currently houses 52 inmates at max capacity.
Visitation at the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office (in person) are scheduled on Sundays 9am til Noon and from 2pm til 5pm

All incoming mail must have a full name and return address. No money; money order or check will be accepted.

ALL INCOMING MAIL FOR DETAINEES WITH THE EXCEPTION OF LEGAL MAIL WILL BE COPIED. THE COPIED LETTER WILL GO TO THE DETAINEE WITH THE ORIGINAL GOING INTO THE DETAINEE PROPERTY.
LEGAL MAIL WILL BE OPENED IN FRONT OF THE DETAINEE AND STAPLES AND STAMPS WILL BE REMOVED.
Incoming mail containing, but not limited to, material depicting, describing or encouraging activities that could lead to physical violence or group disruptions; information regarding the manufacture of explosives or weapons; information regarding escape plots; plans to commit illegal activities or facility guidelines; information regarding the production of drugs or alcohol; sexually explicit material; threats, extortion, obscenity, or profanity; coded messages; anything affecting the safety and security of the facility; or any other contraband will be rejected.
All incoming mail will normally be delivered to detainees the same day it is delivered to this facility, excluding weekends and holidays.
Any incoming mail coming into the facility following a detainee’s release will be marked “Return to Sender” and returned to the postal service. Detainees may not write to any other detainee under the custody of this facility.
Subscriptions to magazines, periodicals, newspapers or catalogs are not allowed and will be thrown away.
Money delivered to the facility by someone in person must be in the form of cash through the kiosk in the lobby with a fee that will apply to each transaction. The kiosk will NOT accept two-dollar bills. No checks, other than those written by other Detention/Correction Centers shall be accepted. Money orders will not be accepted. Family members can also deposit money into your account by going to www.jailATM.com by giving them your booking number with a fee will apply to each transaction.

Service Fee - $30.00 plus mileage
Mileage Fee - 53.5 cents per mile
Mileage is usually billed after papers have been served. paper service is attempted three times, after the third attempt the paper will be sent back non-est.

You will complete the application and pay fees at the Moniteau County jail.

Once the background check has been completed you will be called back in to sign and pick up your card.
Registered sex offenders residing in Moniteau County MUST come into the Sheriff's Office and register as they are mandated.
Sex offenders have 3 days to report into the Sheriff's Office once they move into the county.
Any change of address, job, vehicle etc must be reported immediately as per state staute.
ALL SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION AND COMPLIANCE RULES ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
FAILURE TO REGISTER OR UPDATE INFORMATION AS MANDATED COULD RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CHARGES.
